Astronomical Odds

Dakota’s had plenty of dark days during his battle with cancer, but one bright spot occurred in the Spring of 2020 on the 135-yard par-3 16th hole at Cherokee Valley Golf Club near his home in Olive Branch, MS. The kid who’d beat the odds versus cancer hit an incredible 7-iron shot to record his first-ever hole-in-one. The feat (and Dakota’s story) was celebrated in a special blog post titled “For St. Jude Patient Dakota, Life is Coming Up Aces” on the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital site.

The odds of making a hole-in-one are 12,500-to-1. The odds of beating cancer and making a hole-in-one? Astronomical.
